A Strategic Thinker, Analytical, and Deeply Committed

It’s a privilege to write this letter of support for the candidacy of Democrat Jane Wisialowski for the Old Saybrook Board of Education.

I currently serve on the board and was first introduced to Jane this past year when she served as a parent on two administrative hiring search committees. Her participation was significant, her observations astute, and her contributions to the discussions both valuable and perceptive.

When a vacancy opened on the board last spring, she was nominated by the Democratic Town Committee and subsequently appointed by the First Selectman in recognition that Jane cares deeply about quality education and desires to serve the needs of all students, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds. Her love of our town and commitment to our students is evident in her active volunteerism in all three schools. She has brought enormous energy and passion to leadership roles in PTO, Safe Graduation Night, Goodwin Science Day, and various other committees and organizations.

Jane’s tenure on the board thus far has been brief, yet she understands that the board sets the tone for the entire district and that its actions and decisions directly impact the children in our community. Her background in business management makes her an important addition to the board. She offers a unique perspective and expertise and enhances the diversity of the board. Jane has invested the time required to understand the issues facing the district, its policies, and its strategic plan and has enthusiastically committed to serving on various committees, where much of the board’s initial research and work is done. Jane is a strategic thinker, analytical, and deeply committed to the children, parents, and school community of Old Saybrook.
