10/04/2023 09:05 AMMany families and retirees move to our town due to its small-town New England charm. Behind the scenes, we have volunteer commissions working hard to ensure that Old Saybrook continues to be a wonderful place. The Zoning Commission is on the front lines and works to balance economic changes with our local character. To ensure that the commission continues to put Old Saybrook’s needs first, I am asking for your readers to support our Zoning Commission Chair, Mark Caldarella, for re-election.
Mark has served on the commission for over eight years and recently was named chair. He has devoted countless hours to Old Saybrook’s future and is the right choice to continue leading this incredibly important commission. As your state representative, I see how the state continuously attempts to pass one-size-fits-all zoning mandates on towns. I think we all can agree that what is good for one city or town is not necessarily good for another. We deserve a Zoning chair who will fight for Old Saybrook and not back down to unreasonable state demands that will compromise our uniqueness and environmental beauty.
I am confident Mark will continue to be a conscientious, thoughtful, and effective leader for our community. I hope you will join me in voting for Mark Caldarella and all our Republican candidates on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
