Gets Things Done

Madison voters have an opportunity to continue an administration that gets things done! Since moving to Madison in 2015, we have had an opportunity to view firsthand how a competent and focused leader can turn around years of inaction and failed promises. Peggy Lyons is such a leader. In her short tenure, she has successfully won voter approval on previously stalled initiatives (Academy School, Madison School Renewal Plan, Sale of Island Avenue School, and Town Charter revisions). All of these initiatives were conducted with transparency and public input along the way.

In addition, she completed several noteworthy community projects, including the dog park, tennis/pickleball courts, the new playground at the Surf Club, Bradley Road Improvements/Tuxis walkway, and two bridge replacements.

What makes this even more impressive is how Peggy has been able to obtain an unprecedented level of federal and state grant funding totaling $13 million. Under Peggy's leadership, Madison has demonstrated fiscal stability, maintaining our AAA rating from Moody's, and kept operating budgets in check despite record inflation. As a result, tax increases have remained low despite extraordinary economic uncertainty.

Always the strategic thinker, Peggy has established important climate initiatives such as the Coastal Resiliency Fund, the Foodscraps diversion pilot program, the installation of EV chargers and launching the EV pilot program for municipal vehicles, the installation of solar carports, and coastal infrastructure projects.

I ask all Madison voters to reelect Peggy for first selectman in November.
