My name is Star Alexandra Rueckert, and I am running for reelection to the Old Saybrook Parks and Recreation Commission. I have been honored to serve the community as a commissioner for two terms. There was no strategic plan when I joined the Parks and Recreation Commission. But, in my time on the commission, we have developed one through sensible, proactive planning. I am proud to have worked with all other commissioners – regardless of party – to do what is best for our residents and kids.

We have also begun making some of our facilities more environmentally friendly, which is incredibly important to our shoreline community. I proposed making our bathrooms more energy efficient through solar power and greener through compostable toilets and products. It ensures these facilities are not only more cost-friendly but also better for the community.

I take my time on the commission very seriously and will continue to serve the best interests of Old Saybrook. My family and I have been active members of the community for generations. My children are growing up here and are proud to be residents.

I would appreciate your support on Tuesday, Nov. 7, in order to continue working on projects that improve the quality of life of all residents. I also ask you to support my good friend and fellow Commissioner, Bror Ashe, who shares the same values and commitment.
