Appreciate the Opportunity

My name is Bill Kosturko. I am running for election to the Killingworth Board of Finance. A 10-year resident of Killingworth, I live in town with my wife, Jane.

I am running for the Board of Finance to use my career experience to serve my community in a cooperative and constructive way. I believe my experience has prepared me to serve as a member of the Killingworth Board of Finance. For 30 years, I worked as an executive in the Connecticut banking industry. At various times, I managed the finance, audit, and legal departments of People’s United Bank.

My banking career provided a working knowledge of budgeting, auditing, accounting, finance, and planning issues. In addition, my responsibility for government relations at the bank required me to interact with federal and state regulatory authorities, as well as with local and state elected officials.

Since my retirement, I have enjoyed spending much of my time in volunteer activities. I remain a trustee at Saint Martin de Porres Academy in New Haven, where I have also served as board chairman and a girls’ basketball coach. Tuition-free and entirely self-funded by donors, St. Martin’s provides robust educational and cultural opportunities to inner-city children.

I am also a member of the board of trustees of The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. I have been privileged to act as a volunteer and member of the AARP’s National Policy Council in Washington, D.C., as well.

A Bridgeport native, I graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Yale University and have a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. I’d appreciate the opportunity to direct my energies in my home community through service on the Board of Finance. I am running on the Democratic slate, Row A.
