Honored to be Nominated
My name is Mark Ciliano, and I am honored to be nominated as a candidate for the Old Saybrook Police Commission by the Democratic Town Committee.
Old Saybrook is a vibrant community. I like the small-business atmosphere with its unique shopping and dining. I enjoy the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, walking and biking around town, and having easy access to Routes 95 and 9. The small-town vibe of Old Saybrook, along with its beautiful coastline and Connecticut River access, provides a unique experience.
I worked as a designer in the shipyard at Electric Boat for 45 years and held positions in the union for 42 of those years, including vice president of the MDA. I still represent retirees on the Benefits Committee and as an elected trustee for MDA/UAW Local 571.
I have always believed the Police Commission is an extremely important commission in a town. It is their responsibility to help all residents of Old Saybrook thrive in peace and safety. My union experience and three years as an elected councilor in the City of Groton helps me understand how a police force and citizens can work together effectively. As team leader for my group for 13 years at Electric Boat, I understand how good leaders can help retain a stable workforce.
I will make a positive impact as a member of the Police Commission. With my years of leadership experience, I understand the critical need for recruiting and retaining a stable workforce. Applying my skills, I will work toward effective and long-term resolutions. Through collaboration, I will support the staff, listen to citizens, provide oversight, and compromise to find solutions to current and future challenges.
Please vote for me, Mark Ciliano, Democratic Candidate for Police Commission, in the municipal election this November. Thank you for your support.
