A Breath of Fresh Air
Peggy Lyons has been an outstanding first selectwoman for Madison. We would be lucky to have her for another term. Her 17 years in professional management and 15 years of service in town government have given her the knowledge to get things done with wisdom and efficiency. When she began as First Selectwoman, she already knew much of what the town needed in strategic planning, stronger management, and appropriate development, and she has delivered.
Under Peggy’s direction, the town is developing the Academy Community Center, has a robust school renewal plan, a new town charter, a new flood plain ordinance, a new affordable housing plan, a better system for communicating on town matters to Madison residents, and so much more. Ever mindful of the need to rein in taxes, she has secured over $13 million in grants for town projects. Of great interest to me is that she is supporting the work of the town’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and encouraging the expansion of the Shoreline Greenway Trail.
Perhaps most important in this age of questionable characters in politics, Peggy is a breath of fresh air with her honesty and integrity. Her love for the town shines through everything she does. Please join me in voting to return Peggy to the first selectwoman’s office.
