Using Her Voice
On September 12, registered Democrats will be voting in an important primary election for the selection of Board of Education members who will be candidates in the November election.
This is a letter in support of Amanda Gabriele, Thais Moore, and Lori Mansur. After retiring from the school district ten years ago, I decided to run for the Board of Education. One day I was talking with the former Superintendent of Schools who oversaw the district while I was teaching. She looked directly in my eyes and gave me this advice; “Always use your voice to the benefit of children.”
Ten years later, keeping her charge in mind, I have witnessed Amanda working diligently for the benefit of our students during her six-year term. I’ve watched BoE meetings and heard Thais’s advocacy for students who need an ally in their corner. Lori has been attending Board of Education meetings and has made well thought-out comments and suggestions for many years.
And in thinking of the other two candidates, I am struck by one aspect – their consistent silence.
Please use your voice and don’t sit out on September 12 . Vote to keep Amanda and Thais on the Board, and make their service even stronger with Lori by their side.
