We Are Being Robbed
Hot on the heels of our latest property tax increase, it is revealed that Guilford plans once again to give away a valuable asset, another parcel of land for “affordable” housing purposes.
Am I the only person who believes that town-owned assets should be used for the benefit of town taxpayers and not given away for free? Perhaps if sold at market value, the proceeds could be used to ameliorate a future tax increase.
How ironic that while existing taxpayers will be paying more, in some cases much more due to re-valuation, unknown people will eventually be coming to town to enjoy our subsidy. How fortunate for them that we taxpayers always have plenty of money, but it does feel like we are being robbed!
