03/29/2023 08:00 AMTiny plastic liquor containers are called nips.
We put them up to our lips and keep taking sips
until they’re empty. But here’s the problem.
Wherever I walk in Essex
I see their numbers growing.
They’re at my feet, in the woods and on the street
in the fall amidst the leaves even when it’s snowing.
We are currently in a pandemic of nips.
But the good news is
there’s no need to get vaxes!
That bad news is
if we fail to solve this
pollution problem,
we will be taxed,
litter-ally speaking.
Litter isn’t litter until it’s on the ground.
You’ll see it when you open your eyes
scattered all around.
So let’s not kick the beer cans down the road any longer. And that also applies to styrofoam cups, soda bottle, cigarette butts, paper, and cardboard packages, tin foil, etc.
Just think of your trash container as a litter box.
Yes, there’s a simple solution
and I think you know it.
Hold onto your trash
until you get home
then you know where to throw it!
