Your Help is Needed
Across the country, more pedestrians were killed in 2021 than at any time in the past 40 years, according to data from the Governors Highway Safety Association. But the pandemic years aren’t outliers — pedestrian deaths have been rising for more than a decade. Between 2010 and 2020, they rose by 54 percent. Among cyclists, they rose 50 percent.
The mission of the Guilford Safe Streets TaskForce is to preserve and enhance the scenic, historic, and environmental resources of our Town while improving safety, mobility equity, and connectivity for our Residents.
Your help is needed to reach our goals:
Drivers: slow down, stay alert, follow the 3-foot passing law, and yield to pedestrians and cyclists.
Pedestrians: wear bright clothes/lights, wave before crossing the road, walk facing traffic, and use the sidewalk if applicable.
Cyclists: wear bright clothes/lights, use hand signals, ride with the flow of traffic, single file up when in traffic, follow the rules of the road.
