So Many Thanks
For the past few years, my husband and I have had the opportunity to assist in assembling the holiday meals and gift bags for Meals on Wheels. It warmed my heart to see the many donated gifts we are able to add to their meals. Although it was only an hour of my time on Christmas morning, it reminded me of what the holiday is all about and kept me smiling the rest of the day.
Our Meals on Wheels program delivered approximately 100 meals and gift bags on Christmas Day. On behalf of the Guilford Interfaith Volunteers, I would like to express my gratitude to so many in our Guilford community for making this year's holiday meal special. Many thanks go to the dedicated, hard-working kitchen staff headed up by Larry Santamaria for making a delicious pot roast meal. Wonderful craft items were provided by the Bo'vee family again this year. Many thanks to Cynthia Pullman for putting in time and effort and donating her beautiful hand-knit blankets. Thank you to Grant Waehner for making holiday placemats to go with the meals. Numerous gifts were added to their holiday bags due to the generosity of Page Hardware and their customers who participated in the "Sponsor a Senior Program" holiday gift tree. Handmade Holiday cards were provided by Guilford Lakes Elementary and The Country School, which always puts a smile on our clients' faces.
Thanks to Big Y for donating delicious fruit. Without the volunteer drivers who sacrificed their time on Christmas Day, these meals and gift bags would not have been delivered. Last but not least, I would like to thank Christi Burton (Director of Meals on Wheels) for all her extra hard work in coordinating this special meal and her constant dedication throughout the year.
