An Advocate for Expanding Voting Rights

Did you know Connecticut is one of only four states that doesn’t allow early voting? Connecticut also joins the ranks of states like Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi as one of just 16 states that doesn’t allow no-excuse absentee voting. This November, we have the opportunity to vote “yes” on early voting — but that’s not all.

Christine Cohen has been an advocate for expanding voting rights here in our state, ensuring our elections are fair and accessible. In response to COVID-19, Christine voted to expand access to absentee voting so people don’t have to choose between exercising their voice or keeping themselves and their loved ones healthy. She voted to implement automatic voter registration through many state agencies, easing burdens and minimizing red tape for voters. She voted to restore voting rights to people on parole, allowing those who have served their time to have a voice in their community. All of this goes to show that Christine knows that democracy functions best when everyone participates.

In a time where the sanctity of our elections has come under direct attack, we must continue to elect honest and principled legislators that will protect the right to vote for all eligible citizens. I will be voting for Christine Cohen this Tuesday, Nov. 8 and I urge you to join me.
