Quick and Rueful

Near completion, it’s time to give a quick and rueful assessment of The Generals Residence and the concept of “cluster zoning.” Sad to report, our zoning commission failed the town.

Cluster zoning looks like cluttered zoning: buildings amassed on a tract of land too small to hold them all in a generous and ample fashion, but which once owned a regal though dilapidated manse and a stand of maples and oaks that lined Route One and East Wharf Road.

The past is gone; we lost. Let’s look to the future better.
