The Public Should Know
Before we jump into another $16 million project, I think we should determine real revenue projections and operating costs for the Academy project. The public should know before voting who the revenue producers are and have a breakdown of the operating costs.
Have any of the revenue producers committed to using the new Academy School and for each how long? In excess of $350,000 a year operating costs seems like a lot of money to this taxpayer and so we need a breakdown of that before we go forward.
What are the dollar heating costs with the geothermal heating cooling system yearly, never mind that the payback for it is said to be favorable? Are any new salaries involved? As Selectman Noreen Kokoruda says, this will be, with the new school and the accompanying schools renovations proposal, the largest bonding project the town has ever had for $106 million, before the 18 percent state grant. And that’s before the land acquisition purchase proposed for the new school of $1.2 to $1.3 million.
I’m for a new community center because many good things are proposed here for Madison, but not before more information is available to the public. Will that happen?
