Gets Things Done
In her first term, First Selectman Peggy Lyons led the Emergency Operations Team through multiple disasters, notably an unprecedented pandemic and violent storms. She worked to protect the health and safety of residents while disrupting town services as little as possible. All the while she worked decisively behind the scenes with officials of both parties to streamline town government, making it more efficient and cost-effective. Peggy gets things done without a lot of fanfare.
Peggy may seem like she is all business, but she is keenly concerned with maintaining and improving the quality of life in Madison, too. She has improved beach operations and prioritized resident access. She has enthusiastically supported the efforts of the Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee to make Madison more bike-able and more walkable, a desire expressed frequently by residents in the last Plan of Conservation and Development and born out in Connecticut Trail Census surveys of trail use. She developed plans to complete the downtown center project, spurred completion of the Tuxis walkway and the kayak launch in connection with Salt Meadow Park.
Peggy has been the leader Madison needs. I hope your readers will join with me and vote to re-elect Peggy!
