Concern Over Sustainability
Our jewel nestled by the sea is undergoing a transformation. Madison is for sale. Instead of promoting a green infrastructure to help absorb water by preserving trees, plants, and soil, bigger and numerous buildings are appearing everywhere.
Wildlife that has roamed our town long before humans arrived are at risk since development scatters them in search of food and shelter. Ledges are getting dynamited, marshes infringed upon, and land sold with fewer restrictions preventing it from happening, culminating into a huge concern over sustainability in a time when 100-year storms happen frequently and flooding remains a constant threat.
One may feel that all one needs is to check the boxes off for a green light for development, but one box remains blank: caring for our earth.
