Generosity Appreciated
On behalf of the members of the Essex Fire Department (EFD), I would like to thank everyone in our community who sent in a donation in support of our Annual Appeal sent in October 2020. Our goal was to raise over $68,000 to replace 12 automated external defibrillator (AED) units for use with patients in cardiac arrest, and two Lucas Chest Compression units so that the EFD could respond to calls for cardiac events with current equipment.
Through the generosity of our residents, we raised $52,822! What a fabulous response. In addition, we were honored to receive $10,096 from Rotary Club of Essex to pay for four AEDs and $10,000 from Essex Community Fund to support the program. Although we do receive support from the Town of Essex, those monies cover our general expenses of managing the two firehouses and keeping our equipment in good working order. Programs such as replacing AED and Lucas units are not part of the town budget.
Again, we could not have been able to update our equipment without community support.
