Not Just a Building
As a Branford native and the parent of a disabled Parkside resident, I am alarmed by the continuing efforts by some of our neighbors, with the apparent support of town officials, to deny my son the new building that has been planned, approved, and funded to replace the crumbling Parkside One.
Years of citizen volunteer effort have gone into this effort. It was my son’s father’s dying wish that his work with the Branford Housing Authority would help to ensure that our son would continue to have a safe and decent home long after we were gone.
The new Parkside will not be just a building; it is the culmination of thousands of hours of unpaid volunteer labor by the members of our local housing authority and their supporters.
That is how a caring community should work. We should all resist any attempts to sabotage our housing authority and the new Parkside.
