05/19/2021 08:00 AMWe are very grateful to the Madison Post office for assisting us on the morning of May 6. After safely navigating the first three steps leaving the building, Ken did not see the final step down, which is separate and not well marked. Wearing a mask inhibited his vision a great deal, especially when looking down. Thankfully, he braced his fall with his hands preventing broken bones but skinned a knee quite badly.
The supervisor came quickly to assist with another employee with a first aid kit. They were very calming with their lighthearted but concerned manner.
There is a thankful ending as well that includes a new assessment of fall prevention with more railings in proper locations, marking treads on steps .
We thank Postmaster Bruce Vecchitto and the helpful employee for their gracious assistance!
