A Scenic Amenity
I wanted to bring a problem to your attention—littering! I’m not kidding.
My neighbor and I collected a full bag’s worth of trash on a quarter mile section of River Road on one side. Trust me, there’s lots more. The problem is chronic and recurring. What to do? Signs? Fines? Adult ed for civic responsibility? Suggestions are welcome.
I had another thought. Why not close River Road between Dennison Road (the problem starts where the sidewalk ends) and the northern end of Book Hill for a few hours one Sunday a month for community cleanup, walkers, and bike riders?
Maybe the annoyance would dissuade the litterers to stop.
River Road is a scenic amenity for our community and we ought to keep it that way.
