Need to Think Carefully
It’s been over a year since zoning changes were made to allow for cluster housing at the General’s Residence. Our biggest fear at the time was that one by one, neighboring properties would follow suit. Now our fears are becoming a reality and the beauty and rural charm of our town is at stake
Currently, there are plans to subdivide The Ledges at 856 Boston Post Road into seven units. The driveway will become a two-way road and there will be parking for 18 cars.
It is not that we oppose cluster housing, but the plans for this project simply do not fit the site. In order to accommodate the proposed plan, a significant amount of blasting has to be conducted to remove the beautiful ledge outcroppings that the house sits upon and feature prominently throughout the property. In addition, there are inland wetland concerns and traffic safety concerns regarding emergency vehicle access, especially in icy and snowy conditions.
We need to think carefully about the changes we make that will impact the character of the town we all love. This is not the right plan.
