Didn’t Miss a Beat
As we enter the busy holiday season, I wanted to pause, reflect, and take a heartfelt moment to thank everyone who has supported the East Haven Food Pantry during this unprecedented year. Our community is made up of such amazing and generous people.
Thanks go to those who have held food drives and creative fundraisers and to local businesses for monetary donations. Each year it seems to be a challenge to keep food on the pantry shelves but this so far has been the most challenging, especially during this pandemic. To say we have experienced a challenge is an understatement. We have seen our client list triple since March and unfortunately we don’t see an end in sight. During Thanksgiving, the pantry handed out more than 345 Thanksgiving baskets to East Haven families, which hopefully brought joy and the blessings of a wonderful meal.
Last and most important, I want to extend my sincere thanks to the pantry volunteers who didn’t miss a beat when the pandemic hit. This special group of people were on the front lines and did whatever was asked of them to make sure those in our community didn’t go without the supplemental food the pantry gives out. Our town is very fortunate to have such a remarkable group of individuals who care so much for others. I am truly honored and blessed to call these volunteers my friends and family.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy new year.
