A Priority to Share
Sometimes you have an idea but can’t figure out how to turn that idea into reality. Families Helping Families had such an idea two years ago. We wanted to find a way to make sure for every family using the Clinton Food Pantry would have a Thanksgiving table complete with all the fixings, so after much thought we came out with the idea of a “full Thanksgiving table effort.” Through this effort, every family would receive a gift card that would enable them to purchase a turkey, potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, rolls, and something for dessert.
After considering all the details of this idea, we had only one problem: How were we going to fund the effort? With the number of families, using the Clinton Food Pantry to fund this on our own would not have been possible. We turned to our first community partner, The Clinton Lions Club. It responded with a resounding “Yes” and we were able to move forward together and make the idea a reality.
This year as Thanksgiving approached, we wanted to again sponsor the Full Thanksgiving Effort. The Clinton Lions Club again agreed to help us and we were joined by Kenyon International, a loyal manufacturing company known for its ceramic cooktops and electric grills. Between the three of us, every family at the food pantry received a gift card.
We are so very thankful that we live in a town where so many people and businesses have made it a priority to share with and care about its children and families. The Clinton Lions Club and Kenyon International, through their efforts, truly made a difference in the lives of our Clinton families this year.
