Mystery Solved
Good Samaritan, honest auto technician, and a believe-it-or-not: On Oct. 23, 2017, my teenage grandson and I visited Fair Weather Acres in Rocky Hill. We both live in North Haven; he volunteered to drive. When we got there, I wanted to pay for admission, however when I reached for my wallet, it was gone. We looked high and low, but found nothing. I even said a prayer to Saint Anthony to help me find it. In my prayers I said I’d donate all the money in the wallet if only I could find it. I filed a police report and of course had to renew everything.
Fast forward to June 26, 2018. I get a call from my daughter. “Dad, your wallet has been found.” It was found by a service technician at A-1 Toyota in New Haven. Here comes the “believe it or not” part. The wallet was found on my grandson’s car. It was tucked on the very bottom of the windshield, at the base of the wiper on the driver side.
How can this wallet have remained in that location for eight months, through rain, snow, sleet, a trip to Boston, and a tornado? I can’t answer that question. However I am willing to bet that a good Samaritan saw it on the ground near my grandson’s car. He or she placed it in the location mentioned, probably thinking the driver would see it.
True to my word, I donated $103 in the wallet to Masters Manna in Wallingford.
Mystery solved, happy ending.
