Hard to Fathom
When I take my recycling and trash over to the Transfer Station in Old Saybrook each week, I am struck by the number of bottles in the bottle and can container with water in them, either a small amount or even full. I also recently learned that folks have been known to leave entire cases of water there, apparently unused from social events, which I find astonishing and disturbing. It’s hard to fathom that someone would throw out water when it is such a precious resource, and often hard to come by for so many in the world.
Is it possible that those folks could either take smaller bottles to said events that would be consumed more readily than a large one—either that or perhaps buy a water dispenser? Failing that, perhaps unused bottles of water could be taken to a local food bank so that others in need might benefit. Until then, I will continue to rescue said bottles of water.
