A Pleasant Surprise
On April 6. I called Mayor Joseph Maturo’s office to make a complaint. It was a pleasant surprise when he answered the phone himself, and insisted I call him “Joe.” He then listened very patiently to my complaint about people driving down our street and using it as a dumping ground. I didn’t know exactly whom to call about this issue, so I decided to start at the top.
Approximately two hours later, I left my home and drove up the street. I observed a town truck on the street and a town employee picking up the trash. The street looks so much better now.
I would like to express my appreciation, first for the mayor’s availability, and second for his responsiveness to my concerns. It is refreshing in today’s political climate to deal with a town official demonstrating these qualities.
