Do Ourselves a Favor
We in small towns have the opportunity to see our local tax dollars, as opposed to our state and federal taxes, being put to use every day. Whether it’s watching roads being paved or plowed, or enjoying town beaches and other outdoor facilities, or seeing our first responders in action, or seeing a school bus drive by, we can say that there are our tax dollars at work close by.
Residents of Madison will have an opportunity on Tuesday, Feb. 7 to designate their tax funds to another worthwhile project with direct hands-on use nearly every day of the year: the renovation of the Scranton Memorial Library. Surrounding towns have recently outpaced Madison in upgrades to their public libraries, and now is the time to move forward with our own. Libraries today have evolved into total community facilities with resources available to all age groups. Let’s do ourselves a favor and vote “Yes” on the upcoming referendum.
