01/25/2017 07:00 AMAnother holiday season has ended, a season of giving, sharing, and spending time with our loved ones. It can also be a difficult time for some of our homebound Meals on Wheels clients, especially for those who have recently lost loved ones or are struggling with an illness or a disability.
We are very touched by the support of the Guilford community. Thanks for the monetary donations, which make it possible for us to continue offering meals at a reduced price and free holiday meals. Thanks for the thoughtful donations of handcrafted items, especially to Mrs. Cynthia Pallman, who lovingly knit beautiful blankets for our clients, and to the craft ladies of the Senior Center and to the ladies of WRR for the aprons and ornaments. Thanks go to the Cub Scouts of Pack 475 and to the students from Guilford Lakes School and Baldwin Middle School in Guilford and St. Mary’s school in Branford for the adorable cards and placemats, always a highlight of our holiday deliveries. A big thank you goes to our board members Craig Yerkes, Larry and Sam Appleton, and Ron Demartino for organizing the deliveries on Thanksgiving Day, and to Laurie Saunders and Beth Marchand for organizing the Christmas Day deliveries. Last, but not least, thanks go to the wonderful volunteers who took time during their busy holiday morning to deliver meals and good cheer to our clients on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. It meant more than they will ever know!
On behalf of our clients, we thank everyone for the love and support of this wonderful community.
