Preserve, Protect, and Promote
On Sept. 10, the Old Saybrook Historical Society held its annual Hosting for History benefit. This year it was Showcase of Homes, a tour of six extraordinary homes that spanned four centuries in age plus a boutique at the Society’s General William Hart House with its beautiful public gardens. More than 600 visitors from all over Connecticut and nearby states raved about their experiences on the tour.
We want to express our gratitude to the generous homeowners, sponsors, supporters, friends, merchants, and hundreds of volunteers who contributed to the overwhelming success of this event. The visitors ate in our restaurants, shopped in our stores, and were impressed by the friendliness and beauty of the area that so many of us call home.
Those who participated in any way—either by buying a ticket or giving their time, resources, or donations—were helping to fulfill our mission to preserve, protect, and promote the rich history of our town and the society’s outstanding campus at 350 Main Street.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all for keeping history alive in Old Saybrook.
