Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Last weekend two local community members braved the joke Mother Nature played on us with the crazy weather and collected food and monetary donations for the East Haven Food Pantry. I would like to thank both Danny Hoff and Michael Kosiorek for all the non-perishable food they collected. Danny stood in front of Stop & Shop along with a friend and asked every shopper to please consider donating food to help the Food Pantry. Michael needed to do something within the community to receive placement in the Honor’s Society program and passed out flyers to all his neighbors notifying them of the food drive he was going to hold. Michael later went back and picked up all the food his neighbors so generously left out for him and with the help of his parents and brother brought the food to the pantry.

It’s been my experience volunteering at the food pantry that folks in the community are very generous with their food donations during the holiday season, but what most people do not realize is the pantry is very busy throughout the entire year and especially during the summer months when kids do not receive free breakfast or lunch because school is closed. These food drives held by Danny and Michael will help pantry clients receive food that may not have been available otherwise.

Thanks go to all who supported the East Haven Food Pantry. It is greatly appreciated.
