Bags Are Not Hidden
Whitfield Street in Guilford is a great place to live. It is situated between the town, the beach, and marinas. This time of year it is not uncommon to see 100 to 200 people walking from town to the beach or marina and back to town.
Lately there has been an increase in dog excrement left on the sidewalks and/or in small plastic bags at the side. There are also small plastic bags being tossed way down the hill at the railroad bridge in what only can be assumed is an attempt to hide what walkers are doing. I can tell them that their multi-colored bags are not hidden and are clearly visible in the dead weeds this time of year. The fact is that dropping a bag, tossing a bag, or doing nothing makes them litterbugs.
It is a town ordinance that walkers pick up after their dog and transport it to a trash container where it can be properly discarded.
