Just Doesn’t Cut It
I’m sure we all agree that taking a vacation is not only good for the soul, but allows us to spend time with family away from the pressures of life. These vacations are usually dictated by a policy or union contract specifying the amount of vacation time one may take, or earn per year. Vacations are always subject to some type of condition or limit—that is, unless you are the mayor of East Haven.
Since being elected he has already made three trips to Florida, some a week long, leaving the responsibility of running our town to the chairman of the Town Council. The town is actually being run by the non-elected, appointed people in the mayor’s office.
We all know the excuse given for these trips will be that even he needs time off and is always in touch either by cell phone or texting. If a situation arises, he is available to deal with such problems, I for one don’t buy that reasoning.
Guess where our mayor is again? He is back in Florida. The mayor was elected and is paid to deal with the day-to-day running of this town, not continually fly to Florida every few weeks handing the job over to a part-time elected person and/or his appointed people. We all know long distance relationships never work.
I ask the mayor to stay in town and do the job he was elected to do, the job he gets paid to do. I’m sure there are more trips planned. Three to four weeks of vacation since being elected just doesn’t cut it!
