08/05/2015 08:00 AMWith deep gratitude, we would like to thank the fire chief and the volunteer firefighters in Guilford for coming to our aid on a Sunday afternoon this past spring when a brushfire swept through our yards and the woods in between. Our brushfire lasted 90 minutes from the moment it was called in until the final truck left our premises. The fire came dangerously close to our homes and it could have been a huge disaster had it not been for their quick response.
Our fire occurred on a steep terrain, which made it difficult to maneuver. We had numerous firefighters working together to put out the fire from two separate locations. Also, the incline between our properties required a great deal of physical work while carrying heavy equipment.
We are really appreciative of the men and women who volunteer for our Fire Department. Spending their personal time away from their families to protect ours is true devotion to the Guilford community. It is a huge relief knowing that we can count on their expertise to keep us safe. We thank them for all that they do!
