We Can Do Better

This is my town. This is my home.

Last August we successfully denied Global Companies’s proposal to turn our shoreline into an industrial site. I was impressed to see the Madison first selectman and State Representative Tom Vicino attending the hearing and was equally bewildered as to why our own First Selectman Willie Fritz was absent. I sent him an email asking him what his standing was on this issue. He responded that it would do no one any good for him to publicly intervene. This turned out to be a blatant lie in that Mr. Fritz was intervening behind the scenes on Global’s behalf and using the powers of his office to control issues. As revealed by Global’s own attorney at the third Planning & Zoning Commission hearing, Mr. Fritz was offering to assist Global in passing its proposal. Shortly afterwards, Mr. Fritz sought to exempt his office from the Planning & Zoning regulations that had thwarted his ambitions.

Now, here we are again being sued by Global and attacked by Mr. Fritz. In the summons, Global states that Mr. Fritz is still intervening and using the powers of his office to assist it in overturning our decision. One can only wonder how Mr. Fritz is benefiting from his actions.

I am appealing to all the good people of Clinton to vote this November, to vote against the most dysfunctional administration this town has ever seen, and to ensure that Mr. Fritz and anyone else involved in this deception be removed from office to protect the future of Clinton.

We can do better. We deserve better. Together we can make a difference.
