09/17/2014 12:00 AMVoting for Sean Scanlon as the next state representative for Guilford is a positive vote for the future of our town, and I write to support his candidacy.
Sean was raised in Guilford and went through the Guilford school system. I first met Sean when he was a senior at Guilford High School and he volunteered to help in my husband's 2004 campaign. Sean proved himself an invaluable worker then, and since that time I have watched Sean graduate from Boston College, move back to Guilford and make his home here, and go on to be U.S. Senator Chris Murphy's community outreach director for Connecticut. In that job, Sean has learned the issues that affect our lives here in Guilford and Connecticut, and he has developed the skills that will make him a superb state representative: he's a good listener, a problem-solver, and an advocate for his constituents. These skills set him apart from his opponent.
Sean is running a vigorous campaign and to date has knocked on several thousand doors in Guilford, met many residents at the local events held in our town during the summer, and he has reached out to our senior citizens with a survey that gave them the opportunity to tell Sean about their concerns. I hope your readers will take the opportunity to meet and talk with him.
Sean will be a strong voice for Guilford in Hartford and an active problem solver here in Guilford. I encourage your readers to join me in voting for Sean Scanlon for state representative on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
