09/12/2013 12:00 AMA couple of weeks ago, Sally Buemi, a North Haven neighbor, approached me while I was gardening. She asked if I might give her a few minutes to discuss her intention to challenge Mr. Alan Sturtz, our present minority seat on the Board of Selectmen. Having never met Mr. Sturtz, I readily agreed to listen to what she had to say. She was articulate in defining her interest and concerns for this important role, and I was impressed by the obvious care she had taken to be prepared for any questions or concerns on my part. She wants the opportunity to give the minority party a chance to be effective in governing the town for all its residents and businesses. I liked her presentation and agreed to sign her petition.
Since then, I have decided to vote for Sally. I have never met our present minority seat person, but like the idea of giving our board someone new to work with. I also like Sally's passion in wanting to be visible and accessible to all of us, keeping us informed. North Haven Democrats have a chance to make our views heard in a new and effective way. Her previous experience and education is impressive. Let's give her a chance!
