08/22/2013 12:00 AMWhat were you doing at 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 8? Regretfully due to a computer glitch on the DePalma for Mayor robo-call system, many East Haven residents including seniors received an early morning wake up call.
I received calls from residents who know that I am running for Town Council stating they were confused and angry and some scared by the early morning call fearing the worse that something had happened to a loved one and asking me if I knew anything about the calls. I assured the residents with whom I spoke that I would look into the situation. The first place I investigated was the Gary DePalma for Mayor Facebook page. I discovered that Gary DePalma told several people that it indeed was a computer glitch.
I feel sorry for those residents that were effected by the early morning wake up call by the Gary Depalma for Mayor campaign. My personal opinion is a qualified professional should always have a system in place to check that such glitches do not occur. It seems Mr. DePalma always has an excuse for everything that occurs; our town does not need excuses, it needs solid leadership.
I share in the inconvenience this situation caused to those residents who were affected by this truly unprofessional situation caused by the DePalma for Mayor campaign and any disruption it may have brought to their families or morning routine. I have worked on numerous campaigns from presidential to governor to mayor and this is the first time I have heard of a computer glitch waking up half the town at 5:30 a.m.
Our residents deserve better then to be awakened out of a sound sleep at 5:30 a.m. in the morning by a cold, insensitive robo call.
