Morgan Softball Defeats East Hampton in Opener; Baseball Drops Contest to the Bellringers

Softball

The Morgan softball squad played a road game against East Hampton in its season opener on April 2. The Huskies posted a 12-4 victory versus the Bellringers in the Shoreline Conference contest at East Hampton High School.

Scott Chidsey returns to the Huskies for another season as the club’s head coach. Morgan finished with an overall record of 5-13 in the 2021 spring season.

Baseball

The Morgan baseball team hosted East Hampton for its first contest of the 2022 season on April 2. The Huskies took an 8-7 defeat to East Hampton at The Morgan School for an early record of 0-1 on the year.

Michael Grant is back in the dugout for another season as the Huskies’ head coach. Last year, Morgan posted a regular-season record of 10-8 to qualify for the Shoreline Conference Tournament and the Class M State Tournament. In Shorelines, Morgan earned a 2-1 win versus Haddam-Killingworth in the quarterfinals and then took a 9-0 loss to Valley Regional in the semis.

The Huskies went on to notch a 5-3 victory against Ellington in the first round of the Class M State Tournament before taking a 5-0 defeat to East Catholic in the second round.
