Hand Girls’ Lacrosse Prevails in First Game; Boys’ Volleyball Drops Opening Contest
Girls’ Lacrosse
The Hand girls’ lacrosse team began the 2022 spring season by hosting Fairfield Ludlowe for a Saturday morning matchup on April 2. The Tigers notched a 13-12 victory versus the Falcons at the Surf Club to start off the year with a record of 1-0.
Lindsay Carroll returns for her second season as Hand’s head coach this spring. Last year, Hand advanced to the championship game of the SCC Division I Tournament by posting a 26-13 quarterfinal victory versus Cheshire and a 17-9 win against Cheshire in the semifinals. The Tigers went on to take a 13-6 loss to Guilford in the final to finish at 7-10 overall.
Boys’ Volleyball
The Hand boys’ volleyball squad played a road match versus Xavier in its first contest of the season last week. On April 2, the Tigers traveled to Middletown to play and took a 3-0 loss to the Falcons in their 2022 opener.
Hand finished with an overall record of 7-9 last year, qualifying for both SCCs and states. The Tigers notched a 3-0 home win over Xavier in the quarterfinals of the SCC Tournament and then took a 3-0 loss to Cheshire in the semis. Hand went on to take a 3-0 loss against Rockville in the first round of the Class M State Tournament.
