Yellowjackets Swim at Class LL Championship
The East Haven-Cross-Hillhouse co-op girls’ swimming diving and team sent some athletes to compete in the Class LL State Championship at Southern Connecticut State University on Nov. 17. Led by a couple of standout performances from senior Norah Rome, the Yellowjackets finished in 13th place by scoring 159 points as a team in states.
Rome claimed second place in the 200-yard freestyle for EH-C-H at the Class LL State Championship. Rome posted a time of 1:54.02 to earn runner-up honors in the 200 free and score big points for the Easties. Rome only placed behind junior Avery Kudlac of Glastonbury, who won the event with a time of 1:52.25.
Rome also finished third in the 500 freestyle for the Yellowjackets at the state meet. Rome swam a time of 5:06.68 on her way to placing third in the 500.
Junior Julia Rosado also competed in a pair of individual events for EH-C-H. Rosado’s top performance came in the 100 backstroke, where she finished in ninth place by swimming a time of 1:00.24. Rosado also finished 17th for the 200 individual medley with a mark of 2:14.14.
The Yellowjackets also had three relays compete at the state meet. The 200 medley relay of sophomore Alexis Lamprea, sophomore Kate Kim, Rosado, and Rome finished in 13th place with a time of 2:02.59.
The Easties’ 200 freestyle relay featuring sophomore Hannah Adolphe, junior Abby Brooks, Kim, and Rome took 15th place by recording a time of 1:54.38. EH-C-H also saw its 400 freestyle relay finish in 14th place with a time of 4:12.51.
