Valley Girls’ Soccer Notches Two Victories; Football Squad Loses to Morgan
Girls’ Soccer
The Valley Regional girls’ soccer squad improved its record to 4-2 on the season by winning both of its games on last week’s schedule. The Warriors won a close contest against Old Saybrook before posting a convincing victory versus North Branford in recent action.
Valley started off its week by claiming a 2-1 road win over Old Saybrook on Sept. 28. Two days later, the Warriors hosted North Branford and prevailed by the final tally of 7-1 at Valley Regional High School.
Boys’ Soccer
The Valley Regional boys’ soccer team earned a tie and also took two losses last week to move to 4-2-1 on the season. The Warriors took a defeat against Old Saybrook, battled Portland to a draw, and then lost Woodstock Academy in last week’s matchups.
On Sept. 27, the Warriors took a 4-3 home loss to Old Saybrook at Valley Regional High School. Two days later, Valley was on the road to face Portland and played the Highlanders to a 3-3 tie. Then on Oct. 2, the Warriors dropped a 3-0 decision in a home game against Woodstock Academy.
Girls’ Volleyball
The Valley Regional girls’ volleyball team played three matches last week and came away from the slate with one win to put its record at 5-4 for the year. The Warriors earned a win versus Cromwell before taking losses to East Hampton and Haddam-Killingworth in last week’s action.
On Sept. 27, the Warriors claimed a 3-0 (25-4, 25-14, 25-12) home victory against Cromwell at Valley Regional High School. Two days later, Valley was on the road to face East Hampton and lost the match by a 3-0 score. Then on Oct. 1, the Warriors took a 3-0 road loss to Haddam-Killingworth.
Football
The Valley Regional-Old Lyme (VR-OL) football team traveled to Clinton to face Morgan for a Friday night showdown last week. The Warriors took a 20-15 defeat against the Huskies at the Peters Complex to move to 1-2 in the 2021 fall season.
Next up for the Warriors is a home game against Cromwell-Portland at Lyme-Old Lyme High School on Saturday, Oct. 9. The contest kicks off at 1 p.m.
