North Haven Legion Drops Four Contests
The North Haven Senior American Legion 19-U baseball team took four defeats last week to move to 2-11 on the season. North Haven was swept by Orange in a doubleheader before losing a pair of games against Hamden in recent action.
North Haven started off last week by playing a road doubleheader versus Orange at Brinley Field on July 7. North Haven lost both ends of the set by taking one-run defeats in each game. North Haven lost the first contest by a 6-5 score and then dropped a 4-3 decision to Orange in the nightcap.
Then on July 10, North Haven was on the road to face Hamden and took an 8-1 loss. Hamden scored two runs in the first inning, four runs in the third, and two runs in the sixth on its way to the victory.
North Haven scored its lone run of the game in the top of the sixth inning, when Daniel Boudreau singled home Will Sullivan, who had two singles in the game. Nicholas Judd went 1-for-1 with a walk for North Haven. Tyler Harger pitched three scoreless innings of relief, recording four strikeouts.
The next day, North Haven hosted Hamden at Bailey Road Field and took a 2-1 defeat in eight innings. Trailing 1-0, North Haven tied the game when AJ Maggiore singled and scored on a base hit by Harger in the third. The game stayed tied at 1-1 until Hamden plated the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth.
Maggiore pitched into the eighth inning for North Haven, allowing two unearned runs. Sullivan went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.
