Branford Senior Legion Notches Two Victories; Juniors Take Two Defeats
Senior Legion Baseball
The Branford Senior American Legion 19-U baseball team played two games with Orange and one game versus North Haven last week. Branford split its two-game set against Orange and then defeated North Haven to put its record at 3-5 in the Zone 2 standings this summer.
Branford started off its week by taking a 3-1 road loss to Orange at Brinley Field on June 24. Dan Farricielli pitched 5.1 innings for Head Coach Kyle Heins’s squad in the game.
Then on June 26, Post 83 hosted Orange and posted a 5-2 victory at Branford High School. Jake Bodner tossed a complete game to lead Branford to the win.
The day after that, Branford traveled to North Haven for a road game and claimed an 11-0 victory at Bailey Road Field. Bennett Gentile pitched a complete game by working all five innings before the game was called.
Junior Legion Baseball
The Branford Junior Legion 17-U baseball squad took on Wallingford for a two-game home-and-away set last weekend. Branford dropped two contests versus Wallingford to move to 1-4 on the year in Zone 2 action.
Post 83 faced Wallingford for a home game on June 26 and took a 7-3 defeat at Branford High School. The following day, Head Coach Michael Krause’s club was on the road to play Wallingford and lost by a 5-0 score at West Side Field.
