Kuryan Throws No-Hitter as Madison Legion Starts 5-0
The Madison Senior Legion baseball team started off its summer season by playing five games during the first week of its campaign. Madison notched three victories against Branford, including a no-hit performance from Jared Kuryan, and then swept a two-game set with Orange to open the year at 5-0.
Madison claimed a 4-0 home victory over Branford in its season opener at Town Campus Field on June 15. Christopher Wanat pitched six scoreless innings for Madison in the win.
The next day, Madison earned a 2-0 win at Branford as Kuryan tossed a no-hitter for Post 79. Kuryan struck out 13 batters and only allowed one base runner on a walk on his way to tossing a no-no for Madison.
Then on June 17, Madison played a home game against Branford and triumphed by a 9-3 final. Andrew Earl pitched five innings for Madison in the win.
On June 19, Madison was on the road to face Orange and claimed a 14-4 victory at Brinley Field. Jack Antonetti pitched 5.1 innings for Madison.
The following day, Madison hosted Orange and prevailed by a 4-1 score. Wanat tossed six innings to lead Madison to the victory.
