Westbrook Girls’ Hoops Loses to Morgan in Shoreline Quarters
The Westbrook girls’ basketball squad’s postseason run ended last week after battling Morgan in the Shoreline Conference Tournament quarterfinal. One week after claiming their first victory of the season when it mattered the most, the Knights dropped a close contest against one of the top teams in the Shoreline Conference. Westbrook finished the season with an overall record of 1-13.
On March 22, the No. 10 Westbrook, headed to Clinton to take on the No. 2 seed Huskies, and the Knights dropped a 51-38 contest against Morgan in the Shoreline quarterfinal. The game started out very close with the first quarter coming to a close with both squads tied at 11-11. Heading into the second half, Westbrook still held the a narrow 18-17 edge.
In the third quarter, Westbrook extended that advantage to 33-30, but in the fourth quarter, Morgan really came on strong. The Knights were stifled offensively as the Huskies posted a 21-5 quarter, and the Knights ultimately took a 51-38 defeat.
