Hornets Take Some Losses on the Week
Girls’ Basketball
The Branford girls’ basketball team lost a road game against Mercy last week to put its record at 0-2 on the year.
On Feb. 15, Branford played a game at Mercy and lost to the Tigers by a 62-34 score. Freshman Lauren Thompson scored 16 points for Branford. Senior Francesca Valletta scored eight points, and sophomore Allie Bietz also had eight points in the loss.
Boys’ Basketball
The Branford boys’ basketball team stands at 1-2 on the campaign after dropping a recent contest versus Xavier.
Branford hosted Xavier and lost a 66-43 decision to the Falcons on Feb. 16. Freshman Jake Palluzzi scored 13 points, and senior Justin Elpi had 12 points for the Hornets. Senior Tucker Jacobson scored six points in the loss.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The Branford boys’ ice hockey team hosted North Haven for a game at Northford Ice Pavilion last week. The Hornets took a 3-0 loss against North Haven on Feb. 17 to drop to 0-2 on the year.
North Haven and Branford were locked in a scoreless tie after the first period of play. North Haven scored the first goal of the game in the second period and then added two goals during to third on its way to the 3-0 victory.
