The North Branford field hockey team put a bow on an undefeated regular season by winning its final two games of the slate last week. The Thunderbirds posted a regular-season record of 9-0 for the 2020 season.
On Nov. 2, North Branford hosted Haddam-Killingworth and claimed a 5-0 victory versus the Cougars. Junior Olivia Toto scored three goals, while senior Kelli Jacobson had two goals with an assist. Senior Gabby Gibilisco also had an assist in the win.
Three days later, the T-Birds played a road game against Old Saybrook and prevailed by a 3-0 final. Toto had a goal and an assist for North Branford. Junior Braeden LeBeau also scored a goal, as did senior Kelli Jacobson. Senior Sofia Votto and junior Samantha Helwig both played goalie for the T-Birds during the week.
Girls’ Volleyball
The North Branford girls’ volleyball team split its last two-regular season matches and then won its opening contest of the Shoreline Conference Tournament last week.
North Branford picked up its second win of the year when the T-Birds defeated East Hampton by a 3-1 score on Nov. 4. The next day, North Branford took a 3-0 home loss against Haddam-Killingworth.
Then on Nov. 7, the T-Birds opened up the Shoreline Conference Tournament by hosting No. 9 Cromwell for a first-round matchup. North Branford won the contest by a 3-0 score to move on to the next round.
Girls’ Soccer
The North Branford girls’ soccer squad lost its last two games of the regular season to finish with a record of 1-8.
North Branford took a 3-0 home loss against Old Saybrook on Nov. 4. The day after that, North Branford lost a 4-0 decision to Coginchaug on the road.
Boys’ Soccer
The T-Birds’ boys’ soccer team hosted Coginchaug for its regular-season finale on Nov. 6. North Branford took a 5-0 defeat against the Blue Devils to finish at 0-10 for the season.
