Madison U-19 Baseball Goes 14-4 for Regular Season; U-17 Team Posts Pair of Victories
U-19 Baseball
The Madison U-19 baseball team won its last five regular-season games in the Connecticut Elite Baseball Association (CEBA) to finish with a record of 14-4 for the slate. Madison swept a doubleheader from New Haven, earned a victory over Milford, and then swept a two-game series with West Haven in the final week of regular-season play. Madison came in second place in the Division II standings with a record of 14-4, the same record as Orange, which finished first by virtue of winning both games against Madison during the season.
Madison took both ends of a home doubleheader against New Haven on July 25. Madison claimed a 4-1 victory in the first game and prevailed by an 11-1 score in the second contest at Town Campus Field.
Two days later, Madison hosted Milford for another Division II matchup at Town Campus Field. Madison earned a 3-1 win versus Milford for its third-straight victory.
On July 28, Madison opened up a two-game set versus divisional opponent West Haven by posting a 6-3 road victory at Piurek Field. The next day, Madison hosted West Haven and completed the sweep with a 6-2 win at Town Campus Field.
U-17 Baseball
The Madison U-17 baseball squad gained a split of four CEBA matchups to move to 5-9 on the campaign. Madison lost two of three to Orange before grabbing a win against Branford last week.
On July 25, Madison hosted Orange for a doubleheader and came away with a split of the set at Polson Middle School. Madison took a 2-1 defeat in the first game, but came back to get a 10-7 victory in the nightcap.
The following day, Madison took a 7-4 road loss to Orange in the rubber game of the series at Brinley Field.
Madison returned to the ballfield to play a road game versus Branford on July 30. Madison claimed a 3-2 win at Branford High School for the team’s fifth victory of the season.
