Shoreline Golf Society Crowns Match-Play and Four-Ball Champs
The Shoreline Golf Society (SGS) crowned its match-play champion and its four-ball champion for 2019 following a day of golf at the Fox Hopyard Golf Club in East Haddam on Oct. 13.
Bill Tuthill of Madison took home the match-play championship for the SGS this year. The third-place match was won by Mike Rowan of Old Saybrook, who defeated Glenn Zavorskas of Madison 2 up with one hole to play.
Tuthill and fellow Madison resident Lyle Holmberg won the SGS’s four-ball championship. Tuthill and Holmberg defeated Michael Bench of North Haven and Jay Ardolino from New Haven 2 up with one hole to play to take the title.
The SGS is celebrating its 21st anniversary. With a membership of 86 players, the SGS is a member of both the United States Golf Association (USGA) and the Connecticut State Golf Association (CSGA), allowing its members to play in USGA and CSGA events, in addition to providing worldwide-recognized handicaps.
